Directories in ROSTR 2.0

Explore how Directories have changed in the new ROSTR

Written by Santiago Brusco

Directories are the main way to explore information in ROSTR.

Directories are designed to help you see a lot of information at once, narrow it down quickly, and review details without losing context.

What a directory is

A directory is a structured view of data presented in a table format.

Each row represents a single item, and each column shows a specific piece of information. This makes directories useful for discovery, research, and staying up to date with activity across the platform.

Directory types

ROSTR currently includes five types of directories:

  • Artists – Browse and compare artists, including information such as the companies they are signed with, age, genre, audience size and metrics.

  • Companies – Explore music industry companies, showing details such as top artists, company size, genres they specialize in, and company type

  • Signings – View signing activity, including the type of signing, people involved, and information related to the artist that was signed

  • Tours – Browse touring activity, showing the headlining artist, countries included in the tour, and the overall size of the tour

  • Festivals – Explore festival information, including headlining artists, where the festival takes place, and related event details

Navigating the table

You can scroll vertically to browse more results and scroll horizontally to see additional columns and details. This makes it easy to scan across rows and compare information quickly.

Using filters

Each directory includes a filter panel on the left.

Filters allow you to narrow down what you’re seeing based on the directory you’re in. Depending on the directory, you may be able to filter by things like company, role, type, date, audience, or other available criteria.

You can apply multiple filters at the same time, adjust them as you browse, or reset them to return to the full directory view. Results update immediately as filters change.

Peeking into related information

You can review information related to a specific row without leaving the directory.

Clicking on an item opens the preview panel on the right, showing relevant details while keeping the table visible. This allows you to check context and continue browsing without changing views.

Looking ahead

Directories are continuously evolving.

We’re constantly expanding the data available in directories, improving coverage, and keeping information up to date. Over time, directories may include more detailed rows, additional columns, and more specific filters to help you narrow results even further.
